ZASA News and Information

Dear soccer parents,

    I hope that you and your family are enjoying this incredibly great weather that we have been having the last several weeks.   I am writing to everyone, on behalf of the other board members, to give you an idea of where ZASA stands at this point.

Last month, the ZASA board asked our soccer parents to send in nominations for a number of positions on our board.  The following individuals were nominated for these positions, uncontested and accepted the positions:

VP of Administration --- Brian Dubee
VP of Field Operations --- Mike Lawson
Director of Coaching --- Josh Huckabee
Director of Premier Soccer --- Brandon Amos
Registrar --- Amy Noland
Treasurer --- Patrick Beauchamp

We did have two individuals that were nominated for the President of the  association.  The following individuals are nominated for President:

Jimbo Noland
Jason Burris

Between now and May 1st you may vote for either of these individuals for President of the association.  You may send in your votes to the following email address:  elections@zasa.org

Please remember that all board members of ZASA are volunteers and not paid for their services to the association.

We would also like to share some of the things that we are looking forward to in the next several months.  Below are just a few things that we are working on:

Division 1 Soccer Tryouts --- These tryouts are for soccer players who are able to play at a higher level of soccer.  These teams will play in state-wide tournaments, travel throughout south Louisiana playing teams of similar skill, and play in both the fall and spring soccer season.  We will have tryouts for a U-12 and U-14 boys and a U-12 girls team.  The tryouts will be held on May 8th and May 9th from 3:00 to 4:30 pm.  Please wear proper soccer attire (soccer style cleats, shin-guards, etc.) and bring a bottle of water or sports drink.

Sandlot Soccer --- This will be a six week program starting after July 4th.  This will be open to all players 6 years old to 15 years old.  More details to come in the next few weeks.

ZASA night with the Capitals --- This will be a night to honor our players at the Baton Rouge Capitals home game in Baton Rouge.  More details to come.

Fall registration --- We will start online registration for the Fall 2010 season in June.  The 2010 season will be played at our new home, Flanacher Road Soccer Park.  We are working out the final details for a Grand Opening to our soccer season in mid to late August.  Our season will run from the beginning of September to late November.  More details to come.

Coaches Dinner --- postponed until the August.
