When you register your child, you are paying for the fall season and the spring season. The fall season runs from August through November. The spring season runs from February through mid-April.
Fill out the registration form posted at www.zasa.org and mail to the address on the form or register for free online at www.active.com. The deadline for registration is stated on the registration form. Your child will be placed on a team and contacted by a coach.
There are no tryouts for recreational players. Only children interested in playing on a Division 1 team have to try out.
Registration is $50 total for both the fall and spring seasons with discounts for multiple players. The registration fee includes the player’s jersey, shorts, & socks. After the "late registration" date (posted on the registration form) , please add a $10 late fee. The dates are different for fall and spring.
Yes, you may write a request for a certain coach or team on the top of your child’s registration form. We will do our best to fulfill all requests. If a request can’t be fulfilled, you will be contacted before your child is placed on a different team.
Yes, as long as the children are in the same age group. Please write the request at the top of the registration form. We will do our best to fulfill all requests. If a request can’t be fulfilled, you will be contacted before your child is placed on a different team.
Each child must buy his/her own soccer ball, shin guards, and tennis shoes or cleats. Cleats are recommended but not required. Please buy the correct size soccer ball for your child as listed below.

Practice days, times, and locations are determined by each individual coach.
When and where are games held?
Typically, games are played on Saturdays during the season. In the case of make-up games for rainouts, an occasional game may be played on a weeknight or on a Sunday afternoon.
Younger children (ages 4-7) typically play in the morning. All of their games will be played at BREC’s Doyle’s Bayou Park.
Game times vary for the older children (ages 8 and up). At least half of their games will be played at BREC’s Doyle’s Bayou Park. “Away” games will be played in surrounding areas such as West Feliciana, Walker, New Roads, or West Baton Rouge.Will my child be guaranteed playing time of will s/he "sit the bench"?
In recreational (“rec”) play, every child will play. Nobody “sits the bench” for the entire game.

What is the difference between Recreational (Rec) and Division 1?
The majority of ZASA teams are Rec teams. Division 1 offers the chance for the more experienced players to play more competitively. Division 1 teams travel more and play in tournaments. Players must try out to play on a Division 1 team.
If my child is registered for Fall season, do they need to register for Spring season too?
No, if your child is registered for fall season, they are automatically registered for Spring. If spring ( February ) is their first time to play in the season, you will need to fill out the registration form.
